Abstract

Remarks on the directions of the slickensides and fault striae in the crystalline rocks of the Goryczkowa "crystalline island" in the Tatra Mountains

Older deformations of the rocks of the Goryczkowa "crystalline island" are expressed by preferred orientation (foIiation and lineation), and the younger deformations gave rise to mylonitic zones, systems of slickensides and fault breccias. The direction of movement of rock masses during these younger dislocations corresponds to the direction of overthrust of the Giewont fold, thus indicating the alpine age of these dislocations.
