Abstract

ON UPPER DEVONIAN SEDIMENTATION IN POGORZAŁA AND WITOSZÓW (MIDDLE SUDETEN, POLAND)Upper Devonian palaeogeography and sedimentoIogy is discussed of the SE portion of the Świebodzice depression (Garman: Freiberg). Further evidence is given that the Świebodzice depression is a distinct stratigraphic and tectonic unit, a fragment of that great Upper Devonian and Lower Culmian synclinorium extending between the gneissic block of the Góry Sowie Mts. (German: Eulengebirge) and the North Sudeten Caledonides. A description and interpretation are also given of the intraformational corrugations within the shale and greywacke series of the upper zone of the Hemberg (Prolobites) horizon in Witoszów (German: BØgendorf).
