Abstract

HIGH-TATRIC CAMPILIAN IN THE TATRA MTS.In the KomIny Tylkowe group of the high-Tatric series of the Tatra Mts. (Poland) the writer has discovered thus far unknown Campilian (RØt) strata. Several lithological assemblages have been differentiated, namely layers of “cellular” limestones and dolomites (Lower Campilian), Myophoria layers with Myophoria costata Zenk., i.e. shales, bituminous limestones and intraformational breccias (Upper Campilian). In the Giewont and Czerwone Wierchy series a stratigraphic column with similar lithology has also been discovered, which is not, as yet, based on palaeontological evidence.
