Abstract

ABOUT SEDIMENTATION OF THE EOCENE IN THE TATRA

In the Tatra Mts. Eocene beds transgressively and discordantly overlie various members of the lower sub-tatric, and Chocz nappes. Description is given of an island of Eocene deposits on the Zadnie Koszarzyska which have been sedimented directly on granites of the crystalline core.
In many parts of the Tatra Mts. nummulitic limestones are overlain by a thick series of conglomerates. In addition to Mesozoic rocks of the sub-tatric nappe, pebbles here also contain metamorphic and volcanic rocks transported by streams flowing from the south after the folding of the Tatra but before the Eocene marine invasion.
