Abstract

THE SEDIMENTOLOGICAL CHARACTER OF THE PODHALE FLYSCHA description is here given of various types of bedding in the Podhale flysch (Carpathian Mts.). Frequency of their occurrence is discussed. Due consideration is given to the ganulometric composition of sandstones, morphology of grains and their orientation. The following types of inorganic hieroglyphs are described: drag casts, impact casts, flute casts, rill casts and grooves. From the distribution and orientation of flute casts and cross-bedding it appears that the predominant direction of supply by turbidity currents was from west to east. Beds with exotic boulders and slump structures are also discussed. A short chapter deal with organic hieroglyphs.
