Abstract

THE JURASSIC AT OPOCZNO (CENTRAL POLAND)

The Opoczno limestones (the north Mesozoic marginal area of the Holy Cross Mts.), so far referred to the Peltoceras bimammatum zone in the Lower Malm, are here shown to belong to the lower Cardioceras alternans zone. Lack of detritic material in limestones and their character resembling the spongeous type indicate that they were deposited in a moderately deep basin far distant from the sea-shore
