Utwory tufogeniczne w górnej kredzie niecki miechowskiej
Abstract
UPPER CRETACEOUS TUFFOGENlC DEPOSITS IN THE MIECHÓW SYNCLINEIn the vicinity of Włoszczowa, about 45 km. W of Kielce, intercalations have been observed of strongly metamorphosed tuffogenic products within two sections of Upper Cretaceous deposits. On evidence of identified macro- and micro-fossils these intercalations have been referred to the lower part of the Upper Campanian. They are believed to be associated with Upper Cretaceous volcanism in the external zone of the Carpathian geosyncline. A description in greater detail of the petrography of these intercalations has shown montmorillonite to be the chief constituent here; the presence has also been ascertained of minute fragments of volcanic glass.Downloads
