ORIENTED FLOWAGE CASTS AND MARKS IN THE CARPATHIAN FLYSCH AND THEIR RELATION TO FLUTE AND GROOVE CASTS

Description is here given of oriented flowage casts on the under sides of the sandstone beds from Carpathian Flysch and oriented flowage marks on the upper sides. The author stresses their significance for palaeogeographic reconstruction since their trends indicate the bottom slope in sedimentary reservoirs. It has been noted in numerous observations that trends of oriented flowage and load casts may be different to the direction of turbidity currents given by flute and groove casts. An attempt of solving these anomalies is given.
