Abstract

AN EXPERIMENT IN GEOMORPHOLOGY RECONSTRUCTING THE FORMATION OF GLACIAL RELIEF

Attempts have been undertaken and are here reported of artificial reconstruction of glacial morphology. During the experiment, specially prepared ice-blocks, were subjected to melting in a cellar. The relief forms obtained as a result are comparable with forms of glacial morphology recently noted in Spitsbergen and in Northern Poland. The reported experiments provide interpretations for many relief details whose formation in statu nascendi, It has not, thus far, been possible, to observe.
