Abstract

RIPPLE MARKS AND OTHER SEDIMENTARY STRUCTURES OF THE UPPER CAMBRIAN AT WIELKA WIŚNIÓWKA (HOLY CROSS MTS.)Various structures on the surface of Upper Cambrian quartzitic sandstones cropping out in the Wielka Wiśniówka quarry, most particularly so all kinds of ripple marks, current marks and organogenic hierogIyphs (Rhysophycus, Cruziana), owing their origin to trilobites, indicate that those beds had formed in a shallow sea, within a zone subject to the continuous action of sea waves on the sediment and to that of weak bottom and littoral currents.
