Abstract

ARMORED MUD BALLS IN STREAMS IN THE VICINITY OF NOWY SĄCZ (POLISH CARPATHlANS)Recent armored mud balls from a number of streams cutting the western slopes of the Sądecka Depression are described. These forms develop during summer floods from lumps of various clays eroded in the banks or the bottom of streams. In the course of their short transport these lumps are shaped into spherical balls, and their surface is at the same time armored with pebbles.
