Abstract

AGE AND ORIGIN OF MIXED GRAVELS IN THE ClESZYN UPLAND (SW POLAND)Mixed gravels which, besides Carpathian rocks also contain pebbles transported from the north, have so far been regarded as glacial and fluvioglacial deposits of the Cracovian (Mindel) glaciation. The writer's petrographic and granulometric investigations show them to be fluvial deposits formed during the Middle Polish (Riss) glaciation and during the period separating the Riss glaciation from the Baltic (Wurm) glaciation
