Abstract

The Ordovician of the eastern part of the Podlasie depression

Results of new boreholes from the eastern part of the Podlasie depression, confirm the previous suggestion on a gradual transgression of the Ordovician sea, proceeding from the Białowieża·region, where it has·persisted since the Cambrian period. Ordovician sediments (Upper Arenig-Middle Caradoc) pierced in new boreholes are developed in carbonate facies, the stratigraphic subdivision·of which is based on brachiopods, conodonts and trilobites;
