Abstract

The volcanogenic series comprise an essential part of the Old-Paleozoic rock complexes of the West Sudetes. Three main areas of volcanic rocks are compared and conclusions are drawn concerning two main maxima of volcanic activity in the Caledonian geosyncline of the West Sudetes. The older maximum is Upper Cambrian in age, the younger one – Upper Silurian. These volcanogenic complexes were metamorphosed during the Young-CaIedonian orogeny.
