Abstract

POLYHALITE IN THE SALT MlNES OF THE KUJAWY REGION Polyhalite, a common mineral constituent of the salt beds in the mines of Inowrocław, Wapno and Kłodawa, occurs mostly as epigenetic veins, nests and minor accumulations. Its greatest concentration is observed in the younger salts stage (Z3): in the grey salt clay, the main anhydrite, the younger potash salt (if the latter is developed as hard salt), also in the anhydrite layers A, B, C, in the midst of smoky salts. Observations in the Inowrocław, mine reasonably suggest that the formation of polyhalite occurs in the neighborhood of anhydrite and magnesium-potassium rocks. It is formed through the metasomatosis of the previously deposited anhydrite milk, the metasomatosis of anhydrite rocks or the direct precipitation from the solution.
