Abstract

Holocene history of the Middle Nida valley

ln the valley of the Middle Nida river the beginning of the Holocene was marked by erosion cutting the surface of the Pleistocene IInd terrace, and the postoptimal period - with deposition of·the Ist (flood) four-step terrace. The formation of the three higher steps of this terrace is connected with meandering river action, whereas the lowest one is represented by recent bars.
