Abstract

Specific heat and atomic heat of the Jezersko chondrite.
A b s t r a c t. Specific heat capacity of the Jezersko chondrite (H4, S2/3, W2) was predicted by a relationship between bulk density and heat capacity of meteorites Cp(dbulk). It was calculated that Cp(dbulk) is equal to 703±15 J/(kgK) at 300 K, and 529±15 J/(kgK) at 200 K. Its volumetric heat capacity is equal to 1.8±0.1 MJ/(m3K) at 200 K, and 2.3±0.1 MJ/(m3K) at 300 K, which is close to the room temperature value characteristic of stony meteorites (2.5 MJ/(m3K). The atomic heat of the Jezersko meteorite is 13.1±0.4 J/(molK) at 200 K, and 17.4±0.4 J/(molK) at 300 K. It was shown that mean atomic weight enables predicting room temperature values of specific heat capacity of ordinary chondrites, and the common mean atomic heat of ordinary chondrites is equal to 17.5±0.6 J/(molK) at 300 K.
